Deadlines: sometimes fixed, sometimes flexible

We give fixed deadlines on every job and if you always meet your deadline, you will earn valuable brownie points, making yourself more likely to get more work. But we understand that life often gets in the way - when you get sick, or your children are unwell, or something else crops up. It happens to us, too.

If you think you're not going to be able to make your deadline, let us know as early as possible. Some deadlines are absolutely fixed, in which case we can take over and finish the work. Other deadlines are progression deadlines, where your job is one in a chain of events that need to happen before a later date.

How much will I get paid?

The answer depends on the job. We use fixed pricing for all our jobs. Our calculations are based on how long we think the job should take at an hourly rate of at least $30. However, you may be slower or faster than this. As you become more efficient, your jobs should be more profitable. We use fixed pricing because it works well for our clients and most of our Part Time Professionals - you don't need to keep track of your hours.

If you don't like the payment we've calculated, you're welcome to try to negotiate it higher.

What is schedular tax? Where's the rest of my money?

If you have invoiced Part Time Professionals as an individual, a sole trader, a trust or a partnership, we are obliged to withhold schedular payment tax (previously known as withholding tax).

This will be 20% of the amount of your invoice, excluding the GST portion. So if you send us an invoice for $100, we will pay you $80 and the remaining $20 goes to the IRD under your name. This contributes to your income tax. However, please note that this doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have to worry about tax at the end of the financial year. It is your responsibility to ensure you have paid the right amount of tax.

If you have invoiced Part Time Professionals as a company, you will receive $100 (plus GST if applicable).
